Sandwich Community Centre – The Phoenix Centre
Originally built in the mid-20th century and extended over time, Sandwich Youth Centre had become outdated and no longer met the needs of its users.
Cyma Architects were appointed to redesign and extend the building to improve its functionality, sustainability, and role within the community. The project includes two new single-storey extensions that provide flexible, dedicated spaces for both youth and community groups, resolving previous conflicts in use. The scheme also includes a new entrance and foyer, improved access to outdoor areas, and a full upgrade of insulation, services, and finishes. Re-cladding in sustainable oak enhances both thermal performance and visual identity, transforming the centre into a welcoming, energy-efficient community hub.
