Fair Lawn

This project involved the sensitive redevelopment of a residential property within the rural village setting of Smeeth, Ashford. The existing single-storey structure was fully demolished to make way for new, carefully integrated one- and two-storey extensions. These additions were designed to complement the traditional architectural character of the area while delivering a modern standard of family living.

Additional accommodation was created within the roof space, featuring two traditionally styled dormer windows. These elements were proportioned and positioned to respect the building’s overall form and massing, while preserving key sightlines and protecting the amenity of neighbouring properties.

The design responded directly to the surrounding context, employing materials and detailing in keeping with the local vernacular. Throughout the scheme, particular attention was paid to scale, heritage sensitivity, and the integration of contemporary living within a conservation-conscious framework.
